Seminar on Atam Nirbhar Bharat under the theme "Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav"
A seminar on Atam Nirbhar Bharat was held in the college under the theme Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. Prof Dipanker Sengupta former Head Dept. of Economics, renowned economist of the region and rector Poonch campus, University of Jammu was the resource person for the event . He explained in detail the meaning of Atam Nirbhar Bharat and Vocal for local for the revival of Indian economy. In his address to the participants, he said that atam nirbhar bharat will help India to export goods/services atleast to the tune of imports.
He said that independent India should be vocal for local and stressed the need to glorify and promote local products and generate employment opportunities for the students. He quoted the examples of Bhaderwah Tourism , Bhaderwahi Rajma and Gucchi's from erstwhile Doda district, and Kesar and Paddar Neelam from Kishtwar district as few examples which could be tapped for exporting at a global level.
Prof. Sunil Uppal, principal of the college stressed that COVID-19 has severely impacted the domestic economy and to revive it one needs to promote local products of the region thereby making the country self reliant. About 100 students of BBA/BA/BSc attended the event.
Prof. Shiv kumar presented the formal welcome address, Prof.Bharti Slathia anchored the program while Dr Banpreet kour gave the formal vote of thanks. Prof Meena,,Prof. Anil Singh, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Prof. Sonam Mehta, Dr. Meenakshi Thakur, Prof. Vaishali, Prof. Vijeta, Prof. Satinder Juneja, Prof Ashraf were instrumental in organising and coordinating the event.
